About Science & Research

Science & Research is the desk on this directory where the laboratory, the library and the lecture hall meet. Here are listed the tools, services and companies that help people ask a question carefully and find out whether the answer holds. Each entry is a launch, recorded when it happened and kept in the archive.

The category covers four subcategories: research tools, biotech, academic tools and open data. Browse them one at a time or read the whole page, which lists everything filed beneath it. Newest launches appear first; visitors may instead sort by community votes, which cannot be bought. Use the filters to narrow the column to what you need, and read each profile for what the product does, who it serves and where it sits. Founders with a product in this field can submit it at /submit, and each listing takes one main category, free of charge.

Science & Research: questions answered

What belongs in Science & Research?
Products and businesses whose main purpose is to support scientific work, scholarship or the sharing of findings. That includes software for experiments and analysis, companies working in the life sciences, tools for students and academics, and published datasets. General business software does not belong here.
How do I choose between the subcategories?
Ask what the product mainly does. Instruments and workflow software go under research tools, living systems and medicine under biotech, teaching, writing and citation under academic tools, and published collections of information under open data. Each listing takes one main category, so pick the closest fit.
How do I get my product listed here?
Go to /submit and paste your website address. An AI drafts the profile from your site, and you check and edit every field before anything goes live. A paid launch costs $5, while a free listing joins a queue of about 6-8 weeks.
Can a product appear in more than one subcategory?
Every listing has one main category, chosen at submission and included free. A paid upgrade adds up to 3 more categories for $5, which suits a product that serves, say, both researchers and students.
How are listings ordered on this page?
Newest first by default, so recent launches sit at the top of the column. Visitors can switch to sorting by community votes. Votes can never be bought, so the vote order reflects what readers chose and not what founders paid for.
