The Launch Directory for developers: the API and MCP record
The Launch Directory is open to your own code and to AI assistants. Search every launch, read leaderboards and founder stories, submit your product by website address, edit your listing and get a checkout link for paid launches. The REST API and the MCP server share one set of rules and do the same things.
- MCP server
https://thelaunchdirectory.com/mcp(Streamable HTTP)- REST API
https://thelaunchdirectory.com/api/v1- OpenAPI 3.1
- https://thelaunchdirectory.com/api/v1/openapi.json
- Sign-in
- OAuth 2.1 for apps, or a personal key from API keys
- Version
- 1.0.0 (changelog)
Run it from your AI assistant
Add https://thelaunchdirectory.com/mcp as a custom connector or MCP server in Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, VS Code or any MCP client. Ask things like “What launched this week in my category?”, “Find alternatives to my competitor” or “Launch my product https://example.com”. Reading works straight away; the first time you change something, your app opens a browser so you can connect your account. Step-by-step for each app.

Fixed rules
- The figures list_products gives are The Launch Directory's prices in US dollar cents, excluding VAT.
- The API cannot charge anyone. It returns a checkout link; paying, and entering card details, is done by the person on that page.
- There is no voting through the API or the MCP server. Votes come only from people on The Launch Directory.
- The billboard and sponsorships are labelled as paid placements. Rankings by the community are decided only by votes.
- The AI works from the product's own website and quotes its evidence. Anything it cannot find is left blank and marked, not guessed.
Questions
- Does The Launch Directory work with Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or VS Code?
- Yes. Add the MCP server URL as a custom connector or MCP server in your app. Reading works straight away; the first write opens a browser so you can connect your account.
- Can I let an AI assistant vote or pay?
- Neither. People on the site cast the votes, and you pay on a checkout page of your own, reached through the checkout link the API returns.
- Does it cost anything?
- Access is free within the published rate limits. When you buy a product, a paid launch for example, its price is on the pricing page.
- Is there a risk of the AI making up facts about my product?
- The draft is designed to avoid it. It quotes your own website for each value, leaves blank and marked whatever it cannot verify, and gives you every field to review and change before anything goes live.
- Does The Launch Directory offer an API?
- Yes: /api/v1 is the free REST API (OpenAPI) and /mcp is the remote MCP server. No sign-in is needed to read public data; to submit or manage your listings you sign in to your account with OAuth or an API key.
