Questions answered

Why is mentoring important for learning to code?

Mentoring helps address the gap in knowledge that learners may not even be aware of. Mentors can identify gaps in understanding and unlock new knowledge while helping learners understand language-specific conventions and how to think in the language.

How can I practice coding with Exercism?

Exercism offers multiple ways to practice: you can write code locally using the CLI-first tool, use the in-browser editor for any of the 83 languages without installing anything locally, and get automated analysis on your solutions for quick feedback.

What is Exercism's mission and purpose?

Exercism's mission is to help everyone get really good at programming regardless of their background. The organisation focuses on helping people attain mastery and fluency in programming, making it fun and empowering, and enabling social mobility especially for the economically deprived.

Is Exercism truly free?

Yes, Exercism is 100% free forever. All access to language tracks, coding exercises, and human mentoring is completely free with no paid tiers or hidden costs.
